Yoga and the secret of joy
The secret of joy lies in understanding the roots of suffering.
Joy is always present: it is our inner nature; it does not need to be striven for or acquired.
There is a key word in Sanskrit which is
klesha, it means "cause of affliction". According to yoga tradition, due to
klesha we experience sorrow, confusion and frustration.
The five basic
klesha are: ignorance, identification with ego, attachment, aversion, and will-to- live (fear of death).
During the retreat we will study them as a framework for the practice of asana, pranayama and meditation.
Each yoga session will strike a balance between softness and intensity: soft, to cater to beginners and advanced practitioners alike; intense, because the "body work" helps us dive into silence, the true abode of joy.
Every session concludes with a seated meditation, a treasured jewel of yoga practice.
To complement the work on the mat, there will be lectures and dialogues, and leisure time to enjoy the many treats Mandali offers.
The total cost of the retreat ranges from €1050 (shared accommodation) to €1550 (premium single room).
